Enthusiastic opinions about the Entrepreneurship Week!
The Entrepreneurship Week organised by E-CLIC Rogaland in Stavanger, Norway, gathered many enthusiastic opinions!
The event, which took place at the University of Stavanger and in Ipark from 12th to 16th October, became an inspiring meeting place for up to 150 participants: students, entrepreneurs and businesses. – We got very good feedback for the whole week, both from E-CLIC partners, local students, and local companies, underlines Professor Jan Frick from the University of Stavanger.
Two Media, Culture and Society students from China, Wei Niu and Dan Li, came to Stavanger from Norwich, UK. They liked the whole idea of the Entrepreneurship Week and especially they did enjoy the seminar on Establishing New Business in Russia which was held on Tuesday, 13th October. – It was interesting and it could be helpful in the future, said Wei Niu and Dan Li. – We are hoping for more in the coming days!, they added. It was the first time they have taken part in an E-CLIC event but they were looking forward to the coming E-CLIC events and particularly those dealing with innovative projects.
The Entrepreneurship Week in Stavanger was also the first E-CLIC event for Ramon Luth, MBA Small Business and Entrepreneurship student at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He liked especially the seminar on Innovation Support which took place on Wednesday, 14th October. Ramon Luth has heard for the first time about E-CLIC only few weeks before the Entrepreneurship Week but he already appreciates the project. –I think that E-CLIC is a good idea which helps to connect different countries and share ideas – he said.
The Entrepreneurship Week was appreciated not only by foreign visitors but also by students from Stavanger. – It was a great and very interesting week!, declared Economy student at the University of Stavanger, Marius Pettersen. He especially liked lectures held by entrepreneurs but could not point his favourite. – It is because all of them were really very good – explained Marius Pettersen. He added that he would like to attend future E-CLIC events which he would find interesting.
After the event, the representative of the local E-CLIC organizers, Professor Jan Frick, did not hide his satisfaction. – I am very pleased with the week! And as a leader of Workpackage 2 in the E-CLIC project, I am also very satisfied with the number of project deliverables fulfilled as part of the week, said Professor Jan Frick.
Truly eventful Entrepreneurship Week
During the Entrepreneurship Week (12th – 16th October) organised by E-CLIC Rogaland, Stavanger in Norway became a true meeting place for up to 150 participants: students, entrepreneurs and businesses. Lectures, presentations, seminars and workshops were held by international experts, local government representatives and academic teachers.
The event took place at the University of Stavanger and it was arranged mainly by the NettOpp staff but also by Ipark.
The idea of the Entrepreneurship Week was to discuss topics from the sphere of innovation and entrepreneurship. The programme was addressed to students first of all but it was also opened for everybody who was interested. The areas covered during seminars and workshops were truly diversified: from making an EU project budget, through emerging Web 2.0 services to establishing new businesses in Russia.
-We got very good feedback for the whole week, both from E-CLIC partners, local students, and local companies, underlines Professor Jan Frick from the University of Stavanger. He adds that as a representative of the local E-CLIC organizers, he was very pleased with the week and the number of project deliverables fulfilled as part of the event.

Persuasive technology – how to succeed in the new world of digital media?
Finding an answer to this question was the main goal of “Design for persuasion Conference” held in Brussels on October, 1st. The event was hosted by Christel De Maeyer from Howest /plug Media and Dr. BJ Fogg from Stanford University. E-CLIC was one of the main sponsors of the conference.
The conference gathered both international and Belgian speakers who shared their experience in the field of psychology and persuasive technologies. The experts presented very practical ideas how to apply these technologies and showed examples of recent successful uses of persuasive technology.

BJ Fogg, Christel de Mayer, Thierry Briers, Amy Shuen, Dan Lockton
Among the topics being discussed by the speakers were:
- The need of different approach in case of various behaviour;
- Persuasion windows;
- Designing with an intent;
- Making money in the Web 2.0 environment and implementing Web 2.0 in enterprises;
- How to make a website more addictive;
- Potential in the mobile market;
- Six persuasion principles for digital effectiveness.
The main aim of the conference was to find out how to use persuasive technologies in order to achieve ones goals, learn which tools are most persuasive and how to influence people with digital media in order to change their attitudes, emotions and behaviour.
-You will hear from persuasive technology a lot more in the future, as the social aspect in our digital world will get more and more important, says Christel de Mayer. If there is one thing you should take with you from the conference ,one big message, that is to think clearly, start small and grow, concludes Christel.
The conference was one of the first events worldwide where academics and industry representatives gathered together to discuss the topic of persuasive technologies.
